Tidal Bore Rafting

September 6, 2008

Evan has had quite a bit of 10th birthday celebration between yesterday & today.  In lieu of a party with his friends, Evan chose to go Tidal Bore Rafting with Alex & us.  We went out for four hours, and although it was supposed to be a “moderate” tide, our guide was really pleased with the waves we got.  (Things have started to be stirred up ahead of Hurricane Hanna?)  I just wish I could have taken the camera – the image of the four of us, covered in Bay of Fundy Mud after mud-sliding must have been priceless!  Evan, especially, was totally covered in mud with the exception of his face.  It did rain, so they had given us rain gear, but we were totally soaked through anyway.  (We took the raingear off to slide! ) Our guide got the other passengers to sing “Happy Birthday” to Evan during some rapids called “The Giggles” – and boy did we giggle!  And scream!

It was a lot of fun, but I know I’m going to be sore tomorrow.  The shower & hot chocolate at the end were heavenly because we were pretty cold by that time!  We stayed and had a quick supper and then headed home.  The girls are staying with my parents overnight, so I’m hoping to take a long, hot bath and have an early night!  I have a feeling I’m going to be pretty sore tomorrow, but it was worth it!!
